Custom WordPress theme questions
Can ChatGPT or Claude create a real WordPress theme?
A compatible MCP client can generate PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript and submit it to a GoBuildWP Pro theme project. GoBuildWP manages the files, revisions and approval workflow. The AI model supplies the code; GoBuildWP does not include an AI model or guarantee its output.
Can I use an AI IDE instead of a chat app?
Yes. Connect an MCP-capable coding client such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex using its GoBuildWP connection guide. The same project operations are available within your WordPress permissions, licence and safety policy. Tool access and authentication vary by client.
Does the theme keep working without GoBuildWP?
Generated themes and companions contain no GoBuildWP licence check. Existing generated output can keep rendering without Free or Pro. New managed generation and code edits require Pro. Theme and companion ZIPs are separate exports; ordinary content needs its own WordPress export.
Will I be able to edit the content in WordPress?
The workflow separates executable theme files from database content. Pages, posts and supported generated fields can remain editable in WordPress. That does not make every layout a visual drag-and-drop design. Ask for native editable content in the brief and verify the result in wp-admin.
What is required for previews and activation?
Isolated previews need the configured Cloud validation service and a supported environment. Installation, activation and recovery require Developer Full Access, relevant WordPress capabilities and explicit human approval. A Cloud token capped at Production Safe cannot activate executable code.
Which sites fit this workflow?
The current managed workflow targets single-site classic or hybrid business, portfolio and basic property websites. It does not promise multisite activation, universal builder conversion, booking or payment engines, or compatibility with every plugin. Test the exact theme and dependencies before launch.
