GoBuildWP Pro · 21 Beaver Builder abilities
Beaver Builder MCP that edits one node at a time. Templates and global styles included.
GoBuildWP's Beaver Builder MCP gives an AI client 21 typed abilities in GoBuildWP Pro: read a layout as a flat list of rows, columns and modules, fetch the exact settings schema for any of them, then add, edit or move one node, apply saved templates and manage global colours and typography.
Before a write: node edits accept status published, draft or both and default to both. A WordPress draft post is distinct from Beaver's draft layout. Specify the intended layout, inspect both stored copies and verify editor and frontend recovery; Themer detection alone does not prove template integration.
Pro from $39/year, Beaver Builder 2.9+, Setup guide
Proposed sequence using source-declared abilities in GoBuildWP Pro 1.12.4. Site, IDs, changes and outcomes are illustrative; no live client, native-editor or restore test is recorded here. Confirm the installed schema and policy separately. A confirmed call carries confirm: true, which the agent sets itself by default; a person approves only when Confirmation mode is “A person approves” or a Pro approval policy holds the call.
Node-level edits
Beaver Builder abilities that change one node
Rows, column groups, columns and modules are all nodes with ids, so an edit can name exactly one of them.

beaver-builder-get-layoutReads the published or the draft layout as a compact node list with ids, parents, positions and module slugs.
beaver-builder-get-moduleWalks a module's registered form into typed fields, so settings keys are exact rather than guessed.
beaver-builder-get-structure-schemaRows and columns are not modules. This returns their own schema for backgrounds, spacing and column size.
beaver-builder-edit-nodeMerges settings into one node; type, id and parent stay fixed, and moves go through move-node.
beaver-builder-edit-global-typographySets Global Styles typography per element, from text and links to h1 through h6 and buttons.
beaver-builder-delete-templateTrashes by default and unlinks a global node template from every page first.
Layout jobs
Beaver Builder jobs that stay inside one row
Edit a node, not the whole layout
Target one node by id so the rest of the layout is untouched and reviewable in a diff.
Example prompt: Edit only the pricing node in this layout and leave every sibling node as it is.
Apply an existing template
Reuse a saved layout or row rather than reconstructing the same structure by hand.
Example prompt: Insert the saved 'FAQ row' template after the pricing row.
Keep brand colours consistent
Read the global colour list, then edit the definition once instead of setting hex values module by module.
Example prompt: Show the global colours, then update the accent colour definition rather than each module.
Inspect structure before building
Read the structure schema so new rows, columns and modules nest the way Beaver Builder expects.
Example prompt: List the modules in this layout and show me the structure schema before you change anything.
Published and draft layouts
Beaver Builder keeps two copies of a layout. Choose the stored layout before writing.
Beaver Builder stores a published layout and a draft layout for each page. The read ability lets the agent choose which one it inspects, and node writes update both by default so the editor and the live page do not drift apart.
Templates work the same way the editor does: a whole-page layout, or a saved row, column or module, optionally global. The setup check reports whether Beaver Themer is present, the post types the builder is enabled for, and whether the connected user may manage the builder.
Guard rails on Beaver Builder writes
- Both copies kept in step. Node writes update the published and the draft layout by default.
- Fixed identity. Editing a node never changes its type, id or parent; moves go through beaver-builder-move-node.
- Whole-layout writes confirmed. Replacing a layout, and applying a template that can replace the page, are both destructive and need explicit confirmation.
- Global templates unlinked. Deleting a global node template trashes it and unlinks it from every page first.

Beaver Builder details that change the plan
Beaver Builder Lite, the paid plugin and saved rows
Which Beaver Builder you run decides how much of the template work is available. Whole-page layout templates work broadly, but saved rows, columns and modules, and global templates, depend on Beaver Builder's node-templates feature, which the Lite edition does not have. On Lite, beaver-builder-list-templates will not list saved nodes and beaver-builder-create-template cannot save one. Run beaver-builder-check-setup first: it reports the version against the 2.9 minimum, the template mode, whether Beaver Themer is present and whether the connected user may manage the builder.
Global templates and global colours reach further than one page
Saving a row as a global template links every place it is applied. Edit the template and every linked page changes; applying it inserts a linked instance whose root renders from the template. That is the right tool for a footer call to action used on forty pages, and the wrong one for a section the client expects to vary per page, so say which you want in the prompt.
Two side effects are easy to miss. beaver-builder-apply-template regenerates node ids, so any id the agent noted before the apply is stale and the layout has to be read again before the next edit. And beaver-builder-delete-global-color unbinds every node that used the token; those nodes fall back to the plain value they stored, which may be an old colour nobody remembers. Prefer editing a token's value over deleting it unless you are sure nothing uses it.
Why the agent will not reach for the HTML module
An AI asked for a styled section will often produce one block of HTML and CSS, because that is the easiest thing to generate. In Beaver Builder that would land as a raw-code module nobody can edit visually. beaver-builder-add-node and beaver-builder-edit-node reject the HTML module unless the call passes allow_html_module, which the ability reserves for a real snippet the user asked to embed, never for layout or styling. The agent has to use registered modules from beaver-builder-list-modules instead, with keys read from beaver-builder-get-module, so the result opens as ordinary rows and modules in the editor.
A worked plan: a landing page from saved rows
- Read Only: list the saved rows and their global flags, and read the target page's published and draft layouts.
- Ask for a plan that names each saved row to insert, its position, and which text node in each row to change afterwards.
- Switch to Production Safe on staging. Apply the rows with scope=node, then read the layout again to pick up the new node ids.
- Edit only the text and image nodes the plan named, leaving any global row untouched so it stays linked.
- Open the page in the Beaver Builder editor and on the front end at phone width; spacing and responsive settings are the part an agent cannot judge from data.
FAQ
Beaver Builder MCP questions about nodes and Themer
Other builders: Elementor, Bricks, Breakdance, Divi, Oxygen, WPBakery, Flatsome, Etch, Mosaic.
What is Beaver Builder MCP?
Beaver Builder MCP gives an AI client typed access to Beaver Builder layouts, nodes, modules, templates, global colors and global typography. The MCP server itself is GoBuildWP Free running inside your WordPress install, and GoBuildWP Pro adds 21 typed Beaver Builder abilities.
Can it work with Beaver Builder templates?
Yes. It can list, create, apply and delete templates, both whole-page layouts and saved rows, columns or modules. Applying a layout template can replace the page or append after existing content.
What is a node in this context?
Beaver Builder layouts are trees of rows, column groups, columns and modules. GoBuildWP addresses each as a node, so the agent can add, edit, move or delete a specific one instead of overwriting the layout.
Does it support Beaver Themer?
The setup check reports whether Beaver Themer is present. The module targets the layout, module, template and global style data available on your install; anything not exposed there reports as unavailable rather than being approximated.
How do I try this without risk?
Install GoBuildWP Free and Pro, select Read Only, and ask the agent to inventory a layout. Nothing can be written until you change the safety profile.
Requirements
Beaver Builder 2.9 and the edges of the module
Requirements
- WordPress
- 6.9 or newer, PHP 8.0 or newer.
- Beaver Builder
- 2.9 or newer.
- Beaver Themer
- Detected and reported by the setup check.
- GoBuildWP
- Free plugin plus a Pro licence for the 21 Beaver Builder abilities.
