Avada MCP: Global Options, AWB colour and type tokens, Fusion Slider

An Avada MCP session starts in one place: the fusion_options row where Avada keeps its Global Options. GoBuildWP reads it tab by tab, edits single AWB Global Color and Global Typography presets without touching their siblings, writes a curated set of safe options, and, when Fusion Core is active, edits Fusion Slider slides and slider settings. Element trees built with Avada Builder are outside this module.

Change our primary brand colour to #1f6f5c everywhere Avada uses the global palette, and make the first home slider slide's heading white.

  1. wppilot/avada-check-setupRead

Confirms the theme floor, Fusion Core state and that the fusion_options row exists.

  2. wppilot/avada-list-global-colorsRead

Lists color1 onwards with labels, read through Avada's own palette class so theme filters are honoured.

  3. wppilot/avada-edit-global-colorWrite

Rewrites the chosen slug only, flushes Avada's dynamic CSS and fires its cache clear; a repeat call reports no change.

  4. wppilot/avada-list-slidesRead

Filtered to the home slider's slug to find the first slide's id.

  5. wppilot/avada-edit-slideWrite

Writes heading_color only; unknown keys would reject the batch, and the value is sanitised as a colour.

Data model

fusion_options, and the slider's term meta

Avada's documentation describes Global Options as the place to configure virtually every section of the site, reached from Avada, Options, Global Options. In the database that is one fusion_options array of several hundred keys spanning colour, typography, layout, header, footer and extras, suffixed per language on multilingual installs. The global palette sits inside it as color_palette, keyed color1 upwards, and type presets as typography_sets, keyed typography1 upwards. A fresh install has no row until wp-admin loads once.

Fusion Slider, from the Fusion Core plugin, is not a post type. Each slider is a term of the slide-page taxonomy with its size, animation, autoplay and navigation settings in a _fusion term-meta array; each slide is a slide post with its heading, caption, media and link in a _fusion post-meta array, and the featured image as its background. Portfolio items and FAQs are avada_portfolio and avada_faq posts, listed but not edited here.

Limits

Avada limits worth knowing first

  • Slider settings live in term meta, which the ledger cannot restore, so an edit to a slider's settings is recorded as irreversible. Note the old values from avada-get-slider before changing them.
  • Global option, colour and typography writes restore the whole fusion_options row, and slide edits restore that slide post.
  • The options writer accepts about twenty curated scalar keys; custom CSS, custom JS and licence fields are reserved, and any unknown or reserved key rejects the entire batch.
  • Values containing angle brackets are refused, because they would pass into Avada's dynamic CSS.
  • Every write reads the row back from the database after saving and reports avada_write_failed if a caching or security filter blocked it.

Worked example

Recolouring the brand token and one slide heading

Expected outcome to verify on the installed stack; this sequence has not been recorded as a runtime test.

Elements bound to that global colour pick up the new green after the cache flush, and the slide heading turns white. Both changes have a restorable before-image. A section coloured with a hard-coded hex rather than the token will not change.

Check the active Avada theme and each feature’s setup gates; Avada Builder is a separate feature dependency, and Fusion Slider needs Fusion Core. Inspect token and slider changes in the native UI and rendered browser page.

Day-to-day Avada work

Swapping a Fusion Slider campaign without opening the builder

The most frequent Avada request on an established site is seasonal: new headline, new button link, new background on the home slider, and back again when the sale ends. Through GoBuildWP that is slider work, not page work. avada-list-sliders gives each slider's slug and slide count, avada-get-slider shows its settings and the slides assigned to it, and avada-get-slide returns one slide's full _fusion bag along with the featured image that serves as its background.

Slide text and links are writable keys: heading and caption as plain text, their sizes and colours, link_type as button, image or none, slide_link and slide_target. Media routing is a key too, so a slide can switch between an image and a YouTube, Vimeo or MP4 background. The background image itself is the slide post's featured image, so replacing it is a set-featured-image call on the slide rather than an Avada setting. Because avada-edit-slide rejects the whole batch when any key is unknown or any value fails its type, a typo never leaves a slide half-updated.

  • Read every slide you will change first and keep the output; that is the record for putting the campaign back.
  • Slide edits restore from the ledger. Slider settings such as autoplay, slideshow_speed and animation do not, because they live in term meta.
  • Check the slider on a phone as well, since aspect ratio and font sizes behave differently there.

Which Global Options the Avada writer accepts

avada-set-theme-options is deliberately narrow. Its allowlist covers the scalar settings people actually ask to change: primary and secondary colour, body text, link and hover colours, separator and border colours, site layout and width, main padding, header position, layout and sticky behaviour, footer columns and display, and switches such as the lightbox, Google Maps, the to-top button and the preloader. Everything else in fusion_options is readable through avada-get-theme-options, tab by tab, but not writable here.

That split is useful when scoping a job. If a request maps onto the allowlist and the AWB colour and typography presets, an agent can do it and the ledger can restore the row. If it needs anything else, such as custom CSS, a specific header element or a Template Builder layout, plan for it to be done in Avada's own screens. The response's written and unchanged lists also show when a requested value was already in place, which is common on sites where the client is describing something they already set months ago.

Multilingual Avada sites and the options row

On WPML or Polylang installs Avada keeps a separate options row per language, suffixed with the language code. GoBuildWP's Avada abilities read and write the unsuffixed fusion_options row; per-language rows are not part of the ability surface, because which language is active depends on the request. Reading them is an execute-php job, and any change made through the abilities should be checked on each language version of the site before you call it done. A colour that changed in English and not in German usually means the second row was never touched, not that the cache is stale.

Portfolio and FAQ inventories

avada-list-portfolio-items and avada-list-faqs are inventory tools: ids, titles, slugs, status, modified dates and, for portfolio items, the first portfolio category. They answer audit questions such as which FAQs are still drafts or which portfolio entries have not been touched in years. Full content comes from get-content, and it is often Avada Builder markup, so edits to those bodies belong in the builder unless the change is plain text the agent can locate exactly.

Questions

Avada questions

Can an AI edit pages built with Avada Builder?

Not through this module. The shortcode element tree, Template Builder layouts and Avada Forms belong to the builder plugin, which this integration leaves alone.

Will it change my Avada custom CSS or tracking code?

No. Those fields are reserved from the writer and are byte-capped when read, so large blobs do not flood the agent's context.

Is the hook list complete?

No. avada-list-hooks is a curated catalogue of about twenty commonly used fusion_ and avada_ filters, not every hook the theme defines.
