GoBuildWP terms of service and licence terms.
What you agree to when you install GoBuildWP Free, buy a Pro licence, or connect an AI client to a WordPress site you administer. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
1. The agreement
These terms govern your use of the GoBuildWP website at gobuildwp.com, the GoBuildWP Free plugin, and the GoBuildWP Pro plugin and licence. By installing, activating, or purchasing GoBuildWP you accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.
The GoBuildWP website and plugins are operated by GoBuildWP ("GoBuildWP", "we", "us"). Contact for all matters under these terms is support@gobuildwp.com.
2. Software licence
GoBuildWP Free is distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. Your rights to use, modify, and redistribute the source are governed by that licence, and nothing in these terms restricts the freedoms the GPL grants you over the code itself.
GoBuildWP Pro is also GPL-licensed software, but access to Pro distributions, updates, and support is tied to a valid, active licence key. A Pro licence grants activation on the number of sites stated in the tier you purchased. Exceeding that allowance requires an upgraded tier.
A licence key is issued to you. Publishing, reselling, or sharing your key so that others obtain Pro updates and support without a licence is a breach of these terms and may result in the key being revoked.
3. Purchases, billing and renewals
Payments, invoices, subscriptions, taxes, and licence delivery are processed by Freemius, which acts as the merchant of record. Your purchase is also subject to the terms and privacy policy Freemius presents at checkout.
Prices are shown before payment, including any applicable currency, tax, and renewal terms. Annual licences renew automatically until cancelled through the Freemius customer portal. Lifetime licences do not renew.
Launch or promotional pricing applies to the term stated at the time of purchase. Renewal pricing may differ and is shown in your Freemius account.
4. Refunds
Refund handling, the evidence we ask for, exclusions, and how to raise a request are set out in full in the refund and purchase support policy. That policy forms part of these terms.
5. Acceptable use
You are responsible for the WordPress sites you connect, the credentials you issue, the safety profile you select, and the abilities you enable. GoBuildWP gives you server-side controls; choosing how far to open them is your decision.
You must not use GoBuildWP to access or modify a WordPress site you are not authorised to administer, to circumvent another party's access controls, or to perform activity that is unlawful in your jurisdiction.
Developer Full Access, the PHP sandbox, WP-CLI execution, filesystem operations, and temporary administrator links are privileged capabilities. Enabling them is an explicit administrative decision and their consequences are your responsibility.
6. AI clients and providers
GoBuildWP does not include, host, or operate an AI model. External MCP clients use their own model access under their own terms. The in-dashboard Chat uses whichever provider and model you configure through the WordPress AI Client.
Content you send through a configured provider, prompts, attachments, instructions, tool declarations, and tool results, is processed by that provider under its terms and retention policy. Reviewing and accepting those terms is your responsibility.
Output produced by an AI client is not reviewed by GoBuildWP. You remain responsible for verifying any change before it reaches a production site.
7. GoBuildWP Cloud
GoBuildWP Cloud, at app.gobuildwp.com, is an optional hosted account and MCP gateway. It is free for up to three connected sites. A GoBuildWP Pro licence linked to the account raises the site limit and adds bulk actions for as long as the licence is active; Cloud has no separate price.
You may connect only WordPress sites you are authorised to administer, and only AI apps and tokens you control. Each site sets the access Cloud receives, and Cloud never exceeds it. You are responsible for the access you grant, the AI apps you allow to reach each site, and the actions those apps take, as section 5 describes for direct connections.
We may suspend a Cloud account that is used against these terms or that puts the service or other users at risk. You can disconnect sites and close your account at any time; disconnecting a site from either side stops its key working. What Cloud stores is described on the privacy page.
8. Support and updates
An active Pro licence includes access to Pro updates and email support at support@gobuildwp.com, answered with priority over requests without a licence. Support covers the current release running on supported WordPress and PHP versions.
We may change, add, or remove features between releases. Where a change removes a documented capability, we will note it in the changelog.
Support does not include writing custom code for your site, debugging unrelated third-party plugins, or guaranteeing a specific business outcome from an AI workflow.
9. Warranties and disclaimers
GoBuildWP is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, and consistent with the GPL under which the software is distributed, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
GoBuildWP's diagnostics and audits inspect selected WordPress and PHP configuration. They are not a malware scanner, penetration test, compliance certification, accounting audit, or availability monitor, and must not be relied on as such.
Rollback covers supported reversible operations only. Some operations are irreversible, and external systems may already have acted on a change. Maintaining tested backups remains your responsibility.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of GoBuildWP.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the GoBuildWP Pro licence in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Termination
You may stop using GoBuildWP at any time by deactivating and deleting the plugins, and by cancelling any subscription through the Freemius customer portal.
We may suspend or revoke a Pro licence for breach of these terms, in particular for licence-key sharing or use against sites you are not authorised to administer. Where we do so, we will contact the email on the licence first unless the breach is causing active harm.
The GPL rights you already hold over the source you have received survive termination of a Pro licence. What ends is access to Pro updates and support.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product and its commercial arrangements change. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
Where a change materially reduces your rights, we will note it on this page rather than changing it silently.
13. Consumer rights
Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of your own country of residence, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law gives it.

Reading the terms
Which document answers which question
The GoBuildWP terms of service are one of several documents that apply to a purchase or an installation, and most confusion comes from looking for an answer in the wrong one. This is a reading guide, not an additional set of terms.
- What you may do with the code: the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, which both plugins carry in their headers. These terms do not narrow it.
- What a Pro licence gives you, acceptable use, liability and termination: the numbered sections above.
- The price, tax, renewal amount and refund terms of a particular purchase: the Freemius checkout and the transaction record it creates, as section 3 and the refund policy explain.
- What data is collected and where it goes: the privacy page, including what GoBuildWP Cloud stores and what the plugin itself sends.
- How to report a vulnerability: the security page.
The terms applied to four common situations
An agency installs Pro on client sites. Each site that activates the licence uses one of its seats, so the tier has to cover the number of sites, and section 5 makes the person who connects an AI client responsible for being authorised to administer that site. Installing on a site you look after for a client is fine; connecting to a site whose owner has not agreed is not. If the client later takes the site elsewhere, deactivating the licence on that site from GoBuildWP > Licence frees the seat for another one.
A yearly licence is not renewed. Section 11 describes what ends: Pro updates and support. On the site, Pro asks the bundled Freemius SDK on each load whether its paid code may run, using the licence record stored on that site, so the switch follows Freemius's answer rather than the renewal date in an email; GoBuildWP adds no grace period of its own. When the answer is no, Pro's abilities and screens stop loading, a "Require approval for writes" setting keeps refusing agent writes, GoBuildWP Free carries on, and the GPL code you already received remains yours.
A licence key is shared publicly. Section 2 treats that as a breach and allows the key to be revoked. Because every site that activated it would then lose Pro together, a key that has leaked by accident is better reported straight away through support, identified by its licence number rather than the key itself.
A team member connects an AI app to GoBuildWP Cloud. Section 7 applies the same responsibility as a direct connection: whoever grants access answers for the sites, apps and tokens they allow, and each site's own safety profile still limits what Cloud can do there.
What the warranty section means for an AI workflow
Sections 9 and 10 read like standard boilerplate, but they describe a real operating limit. An agent's change is only as reversible as the operation behind it: supported writes are recorded in the change ledger with rollback evidence, while an email that has been sent, an order that a payment provider has processed or a file deleted outside a supported ability cannot be called back by GoBuildWP. That is why the terms put tested backups on the site owner, and why the safety profile you choose matters more than any clause here.
FAQ
Licence questions, answered plainly
Is GoBuildWP Pro GPL?
Yes. Both GoBuildWP Free and GoBuildWP Pro are GPL-licensed software. What a Pro licence buys is access to Pro distributions, updates, and support, plus activation on the number of sites in your tier, not a restriction on the code freedoms the GPL grants.
Who processes my payment?
Freemius acts as the merchant of record. It handles checkout, invoices, taxes, subscriptions, and licence delivery, and its own terms apply to that transaction alongside these terms.
What happens if my licence expires?
Pro updates and support end. On each site, Pro modules stop loading once the Freemius SDK there no longer accepts the licence; GoBuildWP adds no grace period of its own. GoBuildWP Free continues to work, and the source you already hold remains yours under the GPL.
Are you responsible for what an AI agent changes on my site?
No. GoBuildWP gives you server-side safety profiles, per-ability controls, confirmation gates, a change ledger, and rollback for supported operations. Choosing how far to open those controls, and verifying the result, remains your responsibility.
