GoBuildWP Cloud · Backups
WordPress backup monitoring that never holds your backups.
WordPress backup monitoring in GoBuildWP Cloud shows when each of your sites last finished a successful backup, with the plugin you already use, so the site whose backups quietly stopped is the first thing you see. Your archives stay where your backup plugin puts them.

Why it exists
The backup you need is the one that stopped running in March
Backup plugins fail quietly: a storage token expires, a cron stops firing, a disk fills up. Nobody notices until the day a restore is needed.
Cloud asks each site which backup plugin it runs and when it last finished a successful backup, and lines the answers up. A site that has not backed up in a week is labelled, and so is one with no backup plugin at all, so the gap is visible long before it matters.
Your backups stay where they are. GoBuildWP does not offer its own storage and does not want your archives: the backup plugin you already trust keeps doing the work, and Cloud only reads the result and, with Pro, presses its start button for you.
How it works
Backups in 4 steps
Keep your backup plugin
UpdraftPlus, BackWPup, Duplicator or All-in-One WP Migration on each site, set up as you already have it. Nothing to migrate.
Connect the sites
Sites running GoBuildWP Free 1.18.0 or newer report their newest successful backup to Cloud on their own.
Spot the gaps
Each site is marked recent, older than 7 days, never backed up, or without a backup plugin.
Back up from Cloud
With Pro, start a backup on the sites you pick, or on all of them. The run page follows each site live, check by check, and on sites running GoBuildWP Free 1.18.4 or newer it shows the site's own reason when a backup stalls or fails.
Safety
What keeps it safe, and where it stops
Built in
- Cloud never receives an archive, a download link or your storage credentials
- A backup started from Cloud is made by the site's own UpdraftPlus, BackWPup or All-in-One WP Migration, with its usual settings and destination
- Cloud marks a requested backup done when the site reports a newer successful one; that status does not verify archive completeness or restoration
- Before an update run you can tick Back up each site first: Cloud starts the backup on each site it can, holds that site's updates until a new successful backup is reported, and skips them if none arrives within 30 minutes
What it does not do
- Cloud does not restore; use the backup plugin on the site
- Duplicator backups are read but cannot be started from Cloud
- All-in-One WP Migration exports stay on the site's own server and the free plugin never deletes them, so the site refuses a new one within an hour of the last or when its disk is short of space
- Backing up before updates is optional, not automatic. It can be unticked on the confirm screen, and sites Cloud cannot back up, including every site without GoBuildWP Pro, update without that step; a Free-only site gets a plain update with no backup check at all
- Starting a backup needs GoBuildWP Pro on that site. UpdraftPlus and BackWPup depend on the site's WP-Cron running. All-in-One WP Migration export steps can also progress during Cloud's status checks, reducing dependence on loopback requests; storage, version, worker or export failures can still stop completion

FAQ
Questions about Cloud backups
The rest of Cloud: updates, safety policies, team and clients, seo report, and how Cloud connects your sites.
Does GoBuildWP store my WordPress backups?
No. Backups stay wherever your backup plugin sends them, on its remote storage or the server. Cloud keeps only the time of the newest successful backup, which plugin made it, and whether one is running.
Which backup plugins does Cloud work with?
It reads UpdraftPlus, BackWPup and Duplicator, and All-in-One WP Migration on sites running GoBuildWP Free 1.18.1 or newer. It can start a backup with UpdraftPlus or BackWPup when the site runs GoBuildWP Pro, and with All-in-One WP Migration, when its installed release has the export steps GoBuildWP checks for, if the site runs GoBuildWP Free 1.18.2 or newer and GoBuildWP Pro 1.12.2 or newer; Duplicator can be read but not started.
Can I check backups on client sites without logging in to each one?
Yes. Every connected site's last backup appears on one screen. From the 10 Sites plan you can also invite a client to see the status of their own sites, read-only.
Is backup monitoring free?
Yes, for up to 3 connected sites without Pro, and for every site your Pro plan allows. Starting backups from Cloud is the part that needs Pro.
See which sites are not backed up today.
Connect your sites free and check the dates. Keep your backup plugin; Cloud only reads it and, with Pro, starts it.
