Build a membership or events site

Build a membership site with AI, or a course or events site, around the plugin that owns the data.

Membership, LMS and event plugins own their own data. GoBuildWP builds everything around them: the pricing page, the gated templates, the comparison table, the event entries, the enrolment and level operations, so the plugin keeps being the source of truth while the site around it gets built.

Paste into your AI clientMembership site brief
PROJECT TYPE: MEMBERSHIP / COURSE / EVENTS SITE
MEMBERSHIP OR LMS: [PAID MEMBERSHIPS PRO / TUTOR LMS / THE EVENTS CALENDAR / BUDDYPRESS]
BUILDER: [BRICKS / DIVI 5 / OXYGEN 6 / BREAKDANCE / ETCH]
ORGANISATION: [NAME] offering [MEMBERSHIP / COURSES / EVENTS] to [AUDIENCE].
PAGES: Home; what membership includes; level or course comparison; individual level or course pages; events listing; member resources; FAQ; join; account handoff; Contact; Privacy.
LEVELS OR COURSES: Read the existing levels, courses and event data first and build pages from what is actually configured. Do not invent a tier that does not exist in the plugin.
GATING: Build member-only templates with display conditions. Access control stays with [PLUGIN], do not simulate it with hidden elements.
EVENTS: Create events for [LIST] with date, time, venue, description and ticket link. Anything I have not supplied is [CONFIRM].
COMPARISON TABLE: Build it from the real level or course data, not from marketing copy.
OPERATIONS: For enrolments and level assignments, show me the list of users you plan to act on and wait for approval.
CLAIMS: Prices, renewal terms, refund policy, seat counts, accreditation and outcomes are [CONFIRM].

Be explicit about which system owns what. The agent operates the plugin's data through typed abilities; it does not reimplement access control in a page builder.

What happens next

One brief, many typed calls

Nothing here is a black box. Each step is a separate ability call, checked against the connected user's WordPress capabilities, the safety profile and the confirmation rules before it runs.

Start on staging. A draft page does not isolate shared menus, templates, styles, taxonomy, access or delivery settings: inspect affected routes and approve those changes separately. These briefs describe planned calls, not completed runtime tests; verify saved data, the native editor and rendered output before launch.

Registered names from the shipped plugins. Schemas and descriptions are in the ability reference.

  1. Reads what the plugin already has

Membership levels, courses and their content, existing events. Pages get built from configured reality rather than from a brief that guessed at the tier names.

  2. Builds the public site around it

Pricing page, level or course comparison, individual pages, FAQ and join path, composed as full document trees in your builder, using your design tokens.

  3. Creates gated templates with real conditions

Member-only templates use the builder's display-condition system. Access control stays with the membership plugin; the agent does not fake it by hiding elements client-side.

  4. Creates the events

The Events Calendar entries with date, time, venue, description and ticket references, created through typed abilities and reported back as a list.

  5. Runs enrolment and level operations under review

Enrolling users in Tutor LMS or assigning a Paid Memberships Pro level are real operations on real people. The brief asks the agent to show the target list first and wait; to have the server hold these calls for a person, turn on Pro's approval queue.

  6. Leaves the money claims alone

The brief asks for prices, renewal terms, refund policy and accreditation to come back marked [CONFIRM]. A model can still fill one in, so check each against your own terms; these are the claims that turn into disputes when they are wrong.

Scope

What it drives, and where it stops

GoBuildWP Pro ships 89 integrations. Pro modules require an active GoBuildWP Pro licence and the supported plugins installed on your site. Check feature-specific version and edition gates in the linked references; Free Elementor and block-editor basics have separate coverage.

Plugins this brief can drive

Where it stops and asks you

  • Pro includes Paid Memberships Pro level creation and updates as well as membership reads and user-level operations. This brief uses existing reviewed levels; level definitions, billing relationships and access changes require a separate approved plan.
  • Pro includes Tutor LMS course, lesson and quiz authoring as well as reads and enrolment operations. This brief builds around existing reviewed courses; authoring, answer keys, publication and learner access need their own reviewed scope.
  • Enrolment and level changes affect real people's access. Treat them as reviewed operations, and use Pro's approval queue if more than one person can drive the agent.
  • Payment and renewal configuration is out of scope entirely. That lives in the membership plugin and its gateway.
  • WordPress user creation is a critical operation blocked under the default safety profile. It is outside this brief; an available privileged route requires its own capability, profile and confirmation checks. Do not escalate a credential merely to complete this project.

People, access and money need extra care

Can you build a membership site with AI and trust the result?

You can, as long as the agent's job is drawn tightly. A membership, course or events site mixes two kinds of work. The public pages, comparison tables and templates are ordinary building, and an agent does them well from configured data. Access, billing and personal records are operations on real people, and every one of them is a reviewed action here rather than a side effect of building a page.

Before the run, settle the facts only the organisation can decide: which levels or courses exist and what each includes, the refund and renewal terms in your own words, who may be enrolled or granted access, and which payment gateway is live. The agent builds around those decisions; it should never be the one making them.

Booking: what is and is not covered

Be clear about the word booking. GoBuildWP drives The Events Calendar for dated events: events-calendar-create-event creates an event as a draft by default, and events-calendar-list-event-tickets reads the ticket and RSVP inventory from Event Tickets without returning attendee personal data or selling anything. That suits classes, workshops and talks with a date and a venue.

Appointment-style booking, where a visitor picks a slot in someone's calendar, is not something GoBuildWP has a module for. If you need it, choose a booking plugin, configure it in its own screens, and let the agent build the pages around its shortcode or block. Saying so up front saves a run that would otherwise stop with an unsupported plugin.

A worked example: a Tutor LMS course site

Suppose a training provider runs Tutor LMS with Bricks and wants a public catalogue plus a members' area. The sequence below is what the brief asks for. The brief asks the agent to stop before each person-facing step; that is a prompt instruction, so use the approval queue described next if a person must approve those calls.

  • tutor-lms-check-setup and tutor-lms-list-courses read what is configured; tutor-lms-get-course-structure gives the topics and lessons, so course pages describe the real syllabus rather than a guess.
  • The catalogue, comparison and course pages are written as Bricks drafts from that data. The brief asks for prices and accreditation to be marked [CONFIRM] unless supplied; check the drafts for any the model filled in anyway.
  • Member-only templates are built with display conditions, and access itself is left to Tutor LMS, so nothing is hidden with CSS and still served.
  • Enrolment comes last and is optional. Inspect the course's reported purchasable state and any membership-based paid-access rules first. tutor-lms-get-user-enrollments shows a learner's current records without email or payment details, and tutor-lms-enroll-user is a destructive ability, so each call needs a confirmation flag. Give it only the list you approved, and remember the flag is set by the AI client unless "A person approves" or the approval queue is on.

Use the approval queue for access changes

With Pro, the approval queue turns access changes into requests a person decides on. It is off until you turn it on. approval-get-policy shows what is held: the site default can be off, all writes or destructive writes only, with per-client modes and per-ability rules, and reads are never held. A held call appears in approval-list-requests with its input, secrets and email addresses masked, and who asked.

The safeguard that matters here is that approval-decide refuses an agent's own confirmation. A decision counts only when a person confirmed it through the client's prompt, a one-time wp-admin link or Chat, so the agent that asked to grant a level cannot approve its own request. paid-memberships-pro-assign-user-level is a good candidate for a hold rule: it grants a level administratively without a checkout or any payment check.

Timeline, and what an undo cannot reach

Plan the public site like any other build: a sitting for the run and longer for review. Add separate time for the operational side, which moves at the speed of your decisions: confirming course data, approving the first enrolment list and testing a real sign-up through the payment gateway in its sandbox. That last test is yours; the agent does not create checkouts or charge anything.

Many page and template writes can be rolled back from the change ledger, but not all: a Bricks page or template keeps a before-image, while a Divi Theme Builder template is recorded as irreversible, so check each entry's rollback state. Effects on people are different. paid-memberships-pro-assign-user-level is recorded as irreversible, and enrolment writes do not establish a supported ledger undo and may already have triggered a welcome email or given someone access. Removing an enrolment is a separate confirmed operation and recalls neither access already used nor notifications. Treat every people-facing call as permanent in practice, and review it before it runs rather than relying on undo afterwards.

Questions

Build a membership or events site: questions

Can it create my membership levels or courses?

Pro exposes Paid Memberships Pro level creation/updates and Tutor LMS course, lesson and quiz authoring. This brief intentionally starts from existing reviewed levels and courses. Use a separate approved authoring task with the installed schemas; verify access and publication independently of the surrounding page templates.

How is content gated?

Through the builder's display conditions plus the membership plugin's own access control. The agent will not simulate gating by hiding elements, content that is merely hidden is still served.

Can it add all my events at once?

Yes, from a supplied list: date, time, venue, description and ticket link per event. Events are created as drafts by default. The brief asks for anything missing to come back as [CONFIRM] rather than being filled in; review each draft before publishing, because that instruction is not enforced.

Will it sign people up automatically?

Only when you ask. The brief tells it to show you the list of users first, and tutor-lms-enroll-user needs a confirmation flag on every call. That flag is set by the AI client unless you turn on "A person approves" or Pro's approval queue, which is the way to make a person decide each enrolment. Paid Memberships Pro level assignments are recorded as irreversible.
