GoBuildWP WooCommerce integration: requirements and coverage

This is the lookup page for the WooCommerce MCP abilities in GoBuildWP Free and Pro, grouped by what they touch: catalogue posts, taxonomy terms, the attribute table, orders, customers, store settings and reports. For each family it gives the storage WooCommerce uses, the confirmations the ability asks for, and whether the change log can put a write back. Undo coverage varies a lot between families. GoBuildWP Free reads products, variations, categories, tags, store settings, orders and customers, and edits one product's name, description, prices and stock; Pro adds creation, bulk changes, order and customer writes, refunds, coupons, shipping, tax, gateways and reports.

Data model

Five kinds of storage behind one store

Products and variations are posts (product and product_variation), with prices, stock and attributes in post meta. Categories, tags and shipping classes are the product_cat, product_tag and product_shipping_class taxonomies. Global attributes are pa_ taxonomies whose definitions sit in WooCommerce's own woocommerce_attribute_taxonomies table.

Orders live in High-Performance Order Storage tables (wc_orders, wc_order_addresses, wc_order_operational_data, wc_orders_meta) on stores where HPOS is authoritative, which WooCommerce makes the default for new installs, and as order posts on older ones. The abilities never write either directly; they go through WooCommerce's order API, and the setup check says which store is in charge. Shipping zones and tax rates have their own tables, gateway settings are option rows, and customers are WordPress users.

That mix is why rollback differs by family: a post or an option row can be put back, while a table row, a user or anything a gateway or email has already acted on cannot.

Worked example

Setting up a shipping zone

Expected outcome to verify on the installed stack; this sequence has not been recorded as a runtime test.

UK checkouts show both options, with free shipping once the basket reaches the minimum of 50; WooCommerce counts a basket of exactly 50 as qualifying, so test a basket just below, at and above it. Because the call created a zone and its regions, it cannot be undone from the change log. Backing it out means deleting the zone this task created, a confirmed call that removes only that new zone; orders already placed keep the shipping they were charged.

The module count covers 65 distinct documented names, not every cross-module store workflow. Confirm the approved store currency, tax and coupon basis for the shipping minimum; test below, at and above the threshold and inspect matching-zone priority.

Limits

Store-wide limits of the module

  • Grouped and external products cannot be created, and brands are read-only: they appear in product reads but are refused on create and edit.
  • Product images are set by attachment id only; a URL is not accepted.
  • Order line changes do not move stock. If the stock should follow, run a bulk stock update afterwards.
  • Native woocommerce/* abilities have separate contracts and connection routes. Inspect their live schema, installed policy and version rather than assuming GoBuildWP dry-run, confirmation or ledger behavior applies.

Questions

WooCommerce questions

Which WooCommerce changes can the change log roll back?

Product and variation edits that do not change stock fields on a stock-managed product, tag, shipping-class and attribute-term edits, category name or parent edits, coupons, reviews, gateway settings, method-only shipping changes and each product in a bulk update. Orders, refunds, customers, tax rates, zone structure and attribute definitions cannot.

Why is a product edit marked as not undoable?

It was made by Pro's product editor on a product that manages stock, and the edit itself sent manage_stock, stock_quantity or stock_status. Restoring it would write back the stock level from before the edit, erasing every sale since, so the entry is recorded without a before-image. A Pro edit to such a product that leaves stock alone, say a new description, is undone with the live stock level kept, provided the installed free plugin has that stock-preserving restore; the change log entry says which applied. Free's basic editor keeps a before-image of only the fields it touched and restores them through WooCommerce instead.

Which WooCommerce tasks work on GoBuildWP Free?

Reading the catalogue, variations, categories, tags and store settings, reading orders and customers with manage_woocommerce, and a single product edit to name, description, prices or stock. The shipping-zone example above, bulk updates, orders, coupons and reports need Pro.

Does creating an order through MCP take payment?

No. Totals are calculated but nothing is charged or recorded as paid. Setting on-hold, processing or completed makes the order look paid, which is why those statuses need confirmation.

What does net_after_refunds mean in the sales report?

Product-line sales after discounts, excluding tax and shipping, minus the product lines refunded in the same date range. It is the figure to quote for how much was sold.

WooCommerce documents a native MCP surface. Compare the live store operations and credential scope with GoBuildWP's commerce module. Product or order changes do not establish payment-provider delivery or reverse external financial events. WooCommerce MCP developer documentation
