GoBuildWP

Respira alternative

Respira vs GoBuildWP: duplicate-first editing or supported undo.

Respira vs GoBuildWP is a choice between two ways of protecting a live page. The cited Respira pages describe duplicate-first review, 90-day snapshots and 17 listed builders; exact operation coverage needs an installed-version test. GoBuildWP edits under a safety profile, logs each write against the credential that made it, and checks every undo against what it recorded. GoBuildWP has a free edition; Respira starts with a 7-day trial.

Where Respira leads

Respira's strengths: builders, duplicates and a long undo window

Respira documents builder and duplicate-review workflows that may fit builder-heavy agencies. Each point below comes from Respira's own README, product page or docs, read on 29 September 2026.

  1. A longer builder list

Respira's README names 17 builders. Brizy, Thrive Architect, SeedProd and Divi 4 editing are on it, and GoBuildWP edits none of those four.

  2. Duplicates by default, on every plan

Every Respira edit lands on a copy that a person approves in wp-admin before it goes live, and since 9.1.5 that approval also works over REST. GoBuildWP's working copies and approval queue are Pro features you switch on.

  3. Ninety days to change your mind

Respira keeps a snapshot of each change restorable for 90 days, and snapshot sessions undo a whole group of edits at once.

  4. Blocks and the Site Editor, written directly

Respira writes to the block registry, FSE templates and the Site Editor. GoBuildWP Free now edits templates, template parts and Global Styles too, but core blocks in post content still finish in a browser session.

  5. npx and in-browser agents

Respira connects over stdio through npx, a remote URL, or WebMCP for its Browser AI. GoBuildWP offers Streamable HTTP, and stdio only through WP-CLI on the machine that runs the site.

FeatureRespiraGoBuildWP
Other page buildersYes: 17 builders listed, including Bricks, Divi 4 and 5, Oxygen, Brizy, Thrive and SeedProd.2Yes: In Pro: Flatsome, Etch, Mosaic, Bricks, Divi 5, Oxygen, Breakdance, Beaver Builder and WPBakery. Brizy, Thrive and SeedProd are not covered.
Working copies of live pagesYes: Every edit lands on a duplicate first. This is Respira's default.1Yes: Pro supports draft copies of supported builder pages. A publish can be restored only with a retained before-image; an accepted irreversible publish cannot be undone from the ledger.
Undo one changeYes: Snapshot before each change, restorable from wp-admin for 90 days.4Yes: Reverses supported changes in the ledger while their before-image is kept, Pro content fixes item by item included. Permanent deletions and other irreversible writes are not restored; the ledger says why for each.
Undo a batch or sessionYes: Snapshot sessions roll a group of changes back together.4Yes: A whole batch, a whole agent session with redo, or up to 200 changes chosen by filter, for example everything one agent did on one day.
Verified restoreNot documented: Not documented by Respira. Writes are render-verified when saved, which is a different check.1Yes: After each undo the result is compared with the recorded before-image, and any field that still differs is named.
Writes made through other MCP serversNot documented: Not documented by Respira.Yes: Free records writes made through Elementor's and WooCommerce's own MCP servers, and EDD's and TranslatePress's abilities, with undo where they can be put back. On WordPress 7.1 an off-by-default setting also holds them to the safety profile and a person's approval.
Block editorYes: Block registry, FSE templates and the Site Editor, written directly.2Yes: Free now writes block theme templates, template parts, Global Styles, patterns and navigation menus directly, each write undoable; core blocks in post content still finish in a browser session. Pro adds Kadence Blocks, Spectra and GenerateBlocks.
ElementorYes: Classic v3 widgets, Pro widgets and atomic v4 elements, plus global colours and type.2Yes: Classic widgets and atomic elements alike: 18 free abilities, and 52 more in Pro.
Builder quality audit and repairNot documented: Not documented by Respira.Yes: Free grades how editable an Elementor page is, 0 to 100, and names a fix per element; Pro rebuilds simple HTML-widget markup as native widgets after a dry run, with undo.
Approval queueYes: Pending duplicates are approved or rejected in wp-admin, and over REST since 9.1.5.6Yes: Pro can park an agent's writes until a person releases them, set per credential or ability and announced by email; invalid input is rejected before it is queued.
Preview before a writeYes: Plan mode lists every write before any of it runs.1Yes: Optional previews cover supported write projectors and can show Apply in compatible MCP Apps clients. Required preview is opt-in and exempts Chat and unsupported operations. Pro proposes content fixes before selected application.
Builder-to-builder conversionNot documented: Not documented by Respira. Its Exhale tool turns HTML into WordPress, not one builder into another.9Yes: Pro rebuilds a page in a different builder as a new draft and reports, element by element, what did not carry over.
TransportYes: stdio through npx, a remote URL, and WebMCP in the browser.1Yes: Streamable HTTP on modern 2026-07-28 and legacy 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2024-11-05. MCP Tasks is available on the modern transport since Free 1.15.0; background execution requires a job-backed ability. Local clients can also use stdio through WP-CLI on the site's machine.
WebMCP in the browserYes: Respira Browser AI runs over WebMCP.1No: No WebMCP support.
OAuth 2.1 sign-inPartly: One-time browser OAuth sign-in by URL. PKCE and protocol version are not documented.1Yes: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, trying CIMD before DCR, and each connected app can be revoked separately.
Scoped, expiring credentialsPartly: API keys can be rotated and revoked. Expiry and scopes are not documented.7Yes: Tokens are issued with an expiry date, a list of permitted abilities or categories, and a safety-profile ceiling.
Price and usage capsNo free tier, 7-day trial. €71 a year for one site up to €451 for 25; WooCommerce add-on €95. Usage limits exist, numbers unpublished.3Free edition, no per-call metering charge; per-credential write rate limits still apply. Pro $39–$99.99 a year, or $59.99–$199.99 once.
SEO pluginsNot documented: Not documented by Respira yet. An SEO and AEO add-on is announced.3Yes: Free writes a post's title, description and robots in AIOSEO, Yoast, SEOPress, Rank Math, SmartCrawl, The SEO Framework and Slim SEO; Pro writes the rest of their meta (in bulk, 100 posts per call) and reads Redirection and Site Kit.
Form pluginsNot documented: Not documented by Respira yet. A forms add-on is announced.3Yes: Free reads WPForms, Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7 and Forminator entries with contact data withheld. Pro edits those three and Fluent Forms, Formidable and Ninja Forms, with only small label changes in Forminator and WS Form.
Backup pluginsPartly: A snapshot before every change. No full-site backup is documented.3Yes: Site backups rather than per-edit snapshots: Free reads BackWPup, UpdraftPlus, Duplicator and All-in-One WP Migration, and Pro can trigger a BackWPup, UpdraftPlus or All-in-One WP Migration backup and can make destructive calls wait for a fresh one. Restoring or deleting a backup is left to you.
Updates and backups across sitesNot documented: Not documented by Respira.Yes: GoBuildWP Cloud lists pending updates and backup status, free for 3 connected sites. Pro adds reviewed bulk plugin/theme updates with per-site backup options. Eligible guarded updates compare selected checks and attempt file recovery on failure; recovery can fail and does not restore database changes.
Accessibility and content auditsPartly: A 6-rule accessibility scanner, which Respira's own demo puts at roughly 12% of WCAG AA.9Partly: Free runs selected WCAG 2.2 checks on a page's served HTML (not a conformance certificate), audits site content and repairs alt text with undo; Pro turns content findings into fixes a person selects.
Skills and memoryYes: Site Skills: instructions per site, edited in wp-admin.4Yes: Skills are served as MCP prompts and skill:// resources, and Pro adds persistent memory.

Weighing more than Respira and GoBuildWP? The best WordPress MCP server comparison puts every option on one table. Running several sites, GoBuildWP Cloud adds reviewed bulk plugin updates with backup options, backup status for every site and one safety policy across sites.

Where GoBuildWP leads Respira

What GoBuildWP adds on top of a snapshot

Each point is something released GoBuildWP does. Where Respira is named, the comparison is with what its pages documented on 29 September 2026.

  1. Proof that the restore matched

Respira restores a snapshot. GoBuildWP restores supported changes from its ledger and then diffs the result against the before-image, so a partial restore shows up as named fields instead of passing silently.

  2. Start without paying

The free plugin edits Elementor, runs the accessibility and content audits and keeps the full change ledger with no per-call metering charge; per-credential write rate limits still apply. Respira asks for a paid plan once the trial ends.

  3. Credentials you can hand to a contractor

A GoBuildWP token can be told to expire tomorrow, to use only the post abilities, and never to exceed Production Safe. Respira documents key rotation and revocation, but not expiry or scopes.

  4. Moving a page to another builder

Pro reads an Elementor, Divi, Bricks or WPBakery page and writes it into another supported builder as a draft with a loss report. Respira's Exhale turns HTML into WordPress, which solves a different problem.

  5. SEO, forms, languages and caches now

Respira's SEO and forms add-ons are announced. GoBuildWP Free already writes a post's title, description and robots in Yoast, Rank Math and the other SEO plugins in the table and reads the main form plugins' entries; Pro edits the forms and the rest of the meta, WPML, Polylang, Weglot and TranslatePress strings, and reaches 26 cache and optimisation layers.

  6. Updates for the whole client list

Respira's Studio plan covers 25 sites. GoBuildWP Cloud puts every connected site's pending updates and newest backup on one screen, free for 3 sites; with Pro it runs reviewed plugin/theme updates with backup options and eligible file-recovery attempts. Recovery can fail and excludes database changes.

  7. An accessibility audit with depth

Compare each product’s documented accessibility rule coverage against the pages you need to check. GoBuildWP Free has bounded checks and supported alt-text recovery; no matched rule-coverage or accessibility-superiority test was executed here.

A test you can repeat on staging

Three staging checks for duplicate-first versus undo

  1. Approve one, undo the other

Change the same heading with each product: approve Respira's duplicate, and let GoBuildWP write then undo. Afterwards, compare the posts list and the page's revisions to see what each approach leaves behind.

  2. Roll back a five-edit session

Save a copy of two pages, make five edits across them in one session, then roll back Respira's snapshot session and GoBuildWP's changes filtered to that agent and day. Diff both pages against your copy.

  3. Edit the builder you actually use

Pick one real page from your site, in whichever builder built it, and ask each product to change a button label. Note which edits it natively and which falls back to raw HTML or refuses.

Pricing and hosting model

Trial and per-site plans against a free edition

Respira

Respira has a 7-day trial and no permanent free plan. Maker is €71 a year for one site, Builder €150 for five and Studio €451 for 25, and Studio is the plan that includes WooCommerce and multisite; elsewhere the WooCommerce add-on adds €95 a year. Usage limits exist but the numbers are not published. The plugin runs on your server, and Respira states that site content does not pass through its own.

GoBuildWP

GoBuildWP Free has no price and no per-call metering charge; per-credential write rate limits still apply. Pro is $39–$99.99 a year, or $59.99–$199.99 once, with the same features on every tier; unlimited sites cost $99.99 a year against Respira's €451 for 25. The server is the plugin on your site; clients reach it directly, or through GoBuildWP Cloud, an optional gateway that is free for 3 sites and included with Pro.

Who should pick which

Which one suits your agency's builders and review habits

Choose GoBuildWP when

  • You would rather start on a free plugin and license Pro only for the sites that need it.
  • Clients ask you to show what an agent changed and that the rollback really restored it.
  • One connection should reach Elementor, WooCommerce, SEO, forms, translation and cache plugins.
  • Contractors and agents get tokens that lapse on a date you pick.

Respira is a good fit when

  • Your sites run Brizy, Thrive Architect, SeedProd or Divi 4, and those pages need native edits.
  • No AI edit should reach a live page until a person has approved a duplicate of it.
  • You want Site Editor writes, an npx connection or WebMCP in the browser.

FAQ

Respira questions buyers ask before switching

Can Respira take a change back?

Yes. Respira snapshots the content before each change and lets you restore it from wp-admin for 90 days, and a snapshot session rolls a group of edits back together. What its docs do not describe is a check that the restored content matches the snapshot. GoBuildWP runs that comparison after every undo.

Is there a free Respira plan?

Not a permanent one. On 29 September 2026 the pricing page offered a 7-day trial, then €71 a year for a single site. GoBuildWP's free edition has no licence key and no per-call metering charge; per-credential write rate limits still apply. Pro is an optional upgrade.

My site is built with Brizy or Thrive Architect. Which should I test?

Respira. Its README lists both among its 17 builders, and GoBuildWP edits neither. If your pages are in Elementor, Bricks, Divi 5 or another builder both products name, test both on the same page.

Why does this page not compare tool counts?

Respira's pages quote different totals, and GoBuildWP counts abilities rather than tools. A task list is a fairer yardstick than any headline number.

Put Respira's duplicate and GoBuildWP's undo on the same page.

Install GoBuildWP Free on a staging copy, connect it in Read Only, and repeat the three checks above against your Respira trial.
