Yoast SEO (per-post kit) ability reference
Reference for the GoBuildWP Pro 1.14.1 source. Installed schemas and policy remain authoritative.
The Yoast per-post kit reads and changes stored overrides for one post, rather than configuring Search Appearance across the site. Use it to inspect the stored title, description, canonical and supported schema choices before changing that post's search presentation.
Read-only, write and destructive groups describe the source annotations. They do not establish a minimum safety profile, human approval or undo support. Those controls are separate: check the installed ability, the connected user and the active site policy before calling it. A read can still return sensitive data. These pages are not evidence that every operation passed an end-to-end runtime test.
What Yoast SEO (per-post kit) needs before these load
Requires GoBuildWP Pro and the supported Yoast plugin. Installed schemas, edit permissions, site safety policy and approval rules remain authoritative. This kit does not establish what Google will index or display.
- Declared compatibility tags
- free, pro (source compatibility labels; these do not establish that the vendor sells a Free or Pro edition. Follow the prerequisites and installed-plugin checks below.)
Yoast defaults and template variables
Yoast stores these overrides in separate _yoast_wpseo_ post-meta rows. An empty override restores its default instead of saving a blank replacement. The noindex field distinguishes the post-type default, forced index and noindex; it is not a boolean. Title variables such as %%title%% and %%date%% are preserved. Re-read the stored values and inspect Yoast's rendered output after an approved edit.
Yoast SEO (per-post kit) reads
| Ability | What it does |
|---|---|
wppilot/yoast-kit-check-setupYoast SEO Setup (kit) | Whether Yoast SEO is active, its version and whether Premium is present, and the site-wide settings that decide what a post's title, robots and schema become when the post sets nothing itself: the title separator code, each public post type's title and description templates, default noindex and default schema page/article type, whether search engines are discouraged site-wide, whether the XML sitemap is on, and the schema page and article types a post may be given. Read-only; returns no other settings. |
wppilot/yoast-kit-get-post-seoGet Post SEO (Yoast SEO kit) | One post's Yoast SEO overrides. "seo" is what the post stores (empty string = no override, Yoast uses its template or default): title, description, canonical, robots_index (default | index | noindex), schema_page_type, schema_article_type. "rendered" is what Yoast prints for the post now (title, description, canonical, robots), or null when this Yoast version does not expose it. Pass include_rendered=false to skip it. |

| Ability | What it does |
|---|---|
wppilot/yoast-kit-update-post-seoUpdate Post SEO (Yoast SEO kit) | Sets one post's Yoast SEO overrides in Yoast's own post meta. Send only the fields to change; a field already holding the value is not written. An empty string clears a field so Yoast falls back to its template or default. Titles and descriptions keep Yoast variables such as %%title%% and %%sep%%; tags are stripped. robots_index: default (the post-type setting) | index (force) | noindex; switching a post to noindex needs confirm=true. schema_page_type and schema_article_type must be one of Yoast's types (see yoast-kit-check-setup) or empty; anything else is refused before any field is written. Recorded in the change ledger with a before-image of these Yoast meta keys only; wppilot/rollback-change restores them without touching the post's content. |
