Buy and Renew GoBuildWP Pro Licence Keys and Site Seats
Buy and renew GoBuildWP Pro licence keys through Freemius: choose a site tier, activate the key in WordPress, and know what a lapsed yearly licence pauses.
Freemius is the merchant of record for GoBuildWP Pro, so the licence, the invoice and the refund all live there rather than here. That separation is why activation problems usually fall into one of two clean categories: the licence is not active on the account, or it is active but the site cannot reach the licence service. Knowing which one you have is most of the fix, and the two look different in the plugin's own status display.

Choose by site count
Single Site covers one site, 10 Sites covers ten, 100 Sites covers one hundred, and Unlimited Sites has no limit. Every tier unlocks the same Pro plugin modules and operational controls; in the plugin, only the activation allowance changes. A licence linked to GoBuildWP Cloud also sets Cloud's own allowances, which differ by tier: Single Site: 3 sites and 1 seat; 10 Sites: 10 sites and 3 seats; 100 Sites: 100 sites and 10 seats; Unlimited Sites: no site limit and no seat limit.
Yearly licences include one year of updates and support and renew through Freemius unless cancelled. Lifetime is a one-time purchase that does not lapse under the current product pricing configuration.
Checkout and account
GoBuildWP sends payment to Freemius hosted checkout. Freemius handles the payment form, applicable tax calculation, subscription billing, and licence issuance. After purchase, use the Freemius Customer Portal to retrieve licence details, invoices, payment methods, and subscription controls.
Prices shown on gobuildwp.com mirror the plugin's current pricing configuration. The final amount, currency, tax, and transaction terms shown in checkout are authoritative.
Activation and lapse behavior
Recommended: activate GoBuildWP Free, then GoBuildWP Pro. Enter the key on GoBuildWP's Licence screen. Pro modules load only when the Freemius gate permits premium code; inspect the actual licence or trial status rather than assuming a fixed offline grace period.
When the gate no longer permits premium code, Pro modules stop loading. If approval rules were holding writes when the licence lapsed, affected agent writes, including covered Free writes, remain refused until licensing is restored or Pro is deactivated. Other Free operations still depend on their own permissions and safety profile. Saved data remains; renewing a licence does not undo past work.
Managing the licence after checkout
Reading the Licence screen
Once a key is active, GoBuildWP, Licence is the one place on the site that says what the licence is doing. It shows four facts. Plan is the tier you bought. Sites reads as a count left out of the total, such as one of ten left, or Unlimited on the Unlimited Sites plan. Expires is a date for a yearly licence, Never for a lifetime licence, or Expired on a date once a yearly term has run out. Key shows the licence key masked; the screen never prints it in full, because it is as visible as any admin page and the key is the credential.
If the screen instead says there is no licence on this site, Pro is installed and waiting. Select Enter a licence key to reach the activation form. Pro registers nothing until Freemius permits premium code, through an active licence or a trial it has granted, so there is no partial Pro mode to diagnose. If the Licence screen shows neither a plan nor a trial, Pro is not running.
Renew, upgrade or move a GoBuildWP Pro licence
Under Manage this licence the screen has three controls, and each one answers a different situation. Sync licence asks the licence service for the current state straight away. Use it after you renew, upgrade from one tier to another or change billing, so the site picks up the new plan and expiry without waiting for its next scheduled check. Invoices and account opens the customer account where invoices, payment methods and the subscription live. Deactivate licence on this site frees the seat for another site, and Pro stops running on this one the moment you confirm.
To move Pro to a new domain, deactivate on the old site first, then activate on the new one; the Sites count should return to the same number it showed before. To upgrade because a portfolio has outgrown its tier, buy or switch to the larger tier, then select Sync licence on a site that already has the key, and confirm Sites shows the new total before activating on the extra sites.
In your GoBuildWP account at app.gobuildwp.com, the Licences screen lists the Pro activations reported by the licence service: where GoBuildWP Pro is installed. If you paid with a different email address from the one you sign in with, that screen can link the purchase: it emails the checkout address a link, and nothing changes until you click it.
- After a renewal or tier change: Sync licence, then re-read Plan and Expires
- Before retiring a site: Deactivate licence on this site, then confirm the seat came back
- Paid with another email: link it from Licences in your GoBuildWP account
Pro licence problems by what you see
Each of these has a different cause, so start from the symptom rather than from the key.
- The Licence screen shows a plan but Pro abilities are missing for one plugin: the licence is fine. Ask the agent for wppilot/integration-health, which shows whether that integration is gated by a version floor or failed while loading.
- Every Pro screen disappeared after a restore or migration: check that GoBuildWP Free is active and at the version Pro requires before touching the licence.
- Sites reads zero left and activation is refused: deactivate the licence on a site you no longer use, or move to a larger tier, then try again.
- You renewed but the screen still shows Expired on a date: select Sync licence; the site had not checked since the payment.
- Agent writes are refused after the yearly term lapsed, including ordinary Free writes: approval rules from Pro were holding them. Renew, or deactivate Pro, to release them.
- Activation reports that the licence service cannot be reached: that is a network result, not a verdict on the key. Check that the server can make outbound HTTPS requests.
Handing a licensed site to a client
A licence belongs to the account that bought it, not to the site, which matters when an agency builds a site and later hands it over. There are two clean outcomes. Either the site stays on the agency's licence as part of a care plan, and the agency keeps a seat for it, or the client buys their own tier and the agency selects Deactivate licence on this site before the client activates theirs.
Plan the gap between the two. Pro stops the moment the agency's licence is deactivated, so the client's key should be ready first. Data Pro saved, such as memory entries and approval history, stays in the database and is there again once a licence is active, but while no licence is active the Approvals and Memory screens are gone, and a write held under a Pro approval rule stays refused until Pro is licensed again or deactivated.
What a Pro licence changes on GoBuildWP Cloud
GoBuildWP Cloud, the optional hosted gateway, is free for up to 3 connected sites. There is no separate Cloud price: link a Pro licence to your Cloud account and the site limit follows the tier, 3 on Single Site, 10 on the 10 Sites plan, 100 on the 100 Sites plan and unlimited on Unlimited Sites. A linked licence also unlocks bulk actions, which run one tool on many sites in one go, and makes Pro tools visible through Cloud on every site where Pro is installed.
The two limits are counted separately. Pro's seat count is how many WordPress sites run the Pro plugin; Cloud's limit is how many sites your Cloud account may reach. The Single Site plan is where they differ most: it licenses the plugin on one site while Cloud still allows its free three. If you never use Cloud, none of this applies, and nothing about the licence depends on it.
Questions this guide answers
What happens when a yearly GoBuildWP Pro licence lapses?
Check the Licence screen: the Freemius premium-code gate determines module availability. When it closes, Pro modules stop loading. Writes covered by existing approval holds remain refused, including affected Free writes, until licensing is restored or Pro is deactivated. Saved data remains. No fixed offline grace period is promised here.
What is the difference between the Pro tiers?
In the plugin, only the activation allowance. Single Site covers one site, 10 Sites ten, 100 Sites one hundred, and Unlimited Sites has no limit, and every tier unlocks the same Pro modules and operational controls. In GoBuildWP Cloud the tier also sets the site limit and team seats: Single Site: 3 sites and 1 seat; 10 Sites: 10 sites and 3 seats; 100 Sites: 100 sites and 10 seats; Unlimited Sites: no site limit and no seat limit.
Does a licence activated on staging use up a seat?
It depends on the recognized domain and product configuration. Check the activation and seat status in the Licence screen and Freemius Customer Portal before cloning or activating production. Deactivate obsolete sites through the portal when appropriate; verify the resulting allowance.
Who handles payment and invoices?
Freemius. It runs the hosted checkout, tax calculation, subscription billing and licence issuance, and its Customer Portal is where licence details, invoices, payment methods and subscription controls live. The amount and terms shown in checkout are the authoritative ones.
Review noteRequirements and credential methods follow the shipped GoBuildWP source (WordPress 6.9+, PHP 8.0+). Client menus, account plans and third-party behaviour can change; use the installed version and live schema. Our evidence standard.
If the key is rejected, check the licence and key identity in your GoBuildWP account at app.gobuildwp.com without sharing the full key. If validation cannot reach the service, inspect the returned network error, DNS/TLS and server policy. A network failure does not prove an invalid key.
